Work-study programs and first job: the MBS Career Center unveils its action plan to boost employability in times of crisis

Work-study programs and first job: the MBS Career Center unveils its action plan to boost employability in times of crisis

The MBS Career Center provides professional guidance to 1,491 young people on work-study programmes. Our objective is twofold: personalised coaching to help students build a professional project in line with their soft skills and ambitions, but also to facilitate meetings between students and companies.

Two key events for the professionalization of students will take place in a few days: the “JobDating Alternance”, which will have a record number of participants this year, with 78 companies and more than 500 offers; and the digital seminar “My Job Booster”, to help soon-to-be-graduated students in their job search in times of crisis.

78 companies take part in the MBS “JobDating Alternance” on April 12th and 13th

With the aim of maximising the points of contact between students and companies, the Career Center is once again organising the “JobDating Alternance”, its flagship event for students looking for apprenticeship contracts.

“Facing the economic crisis and the risk that now weighs on recruitment, the Career Center will organise several sessions of JobDating this year. At the beginning of March, a first edition dedicated to the search for internships helped students meet 33 companies that presented more than 130 internship offers. The “JobDating Alternance” will take place on April 12th and 13th, with 76 companies providing more than 500 recruitment offers to young people who will soon be following work-study programs,” explains Laurence Flinois, Director of the Career Center. “A second edition will be organised this summer, to accompany the new students. “

These events play a decisive role in the professionalization of MBS students. They complement a weekly programme of meetings and discoveries of companies. “The ‘Work Me Up’ seminar, the “Coffee Meet-Ups” and the “1 Day 1 Company” show our students the daily life, the jobs and the careers of professionals in various formats. Students can use these testimonials to build their career plans. “Amandine Bourdette, Career Consultant, adds.

We would like to thank the 78 companies that took part in the work-study programs JobDating on April 12th and 13th:

“My Job Booster”: 28 workshops and 16 master classes to help final year students find a job

In partnership with “Pimp My Career”, the Career Center is offering a new personalised programme for future graduates on April 6th and 12th. “Students will be able to put together their own

tailor-made programme and choose from 28 workshops and 16 master classes to prepare for the job market. “explains Sandrine Mayonove, Career Consultant.

After an introductory conference that will present an overview of the job market in France, students will be able to choose from several interactive workshops such as: “Negotiating your salary”, “Discovering new recruitment methods”, “Saving time in your job search”, “Where to find companies that are recruiting? “, “Developing your network during the Covid period” and ” The best techniques for applying abroad. “

To further adapt to this particular context of health crisis, the workshops have been designed to rebuild the students’ confidence and enable them to improve the management of their emotions and their resilience.

At the same time, the Career Center is also preparing a specific edition of the “JobDating”, entitled “First Job”, on June 28th and 29th, to promote recruitment during the health crisis.

Another way to promote student employment is the partnership between the MBS Alumni Association and the company Swile, which a few weeks ago offered the school’s graduates 50 permanent positions based in Montpellier. “The solidarity of the network is crucial to ensure that young graduates do not become the primary victims of the economic crisis” explains Pierre-Emile Ramauger, Director of Development and Corporate Relations.

Professional inclusion: more mentoring for scholarship students who may lack a professional network

In partnership with MBS’s CSR department, the Career Center is now working with “Article 1” to provide enhanced mentoring for scholarship students seeking work-study programs. “These students did not necessarily have the chance to build a professional network before their studies. This mentoring programme, which complements the activities of the Career Center, comes into play at a key moment in the student’s life to help him or her better understand the codes of the job market and be in close contact with a company mentor. “explains Laurence Flinois. This programme, which aims to boost employability and professional inclusion, will be offered to around one hundred MBS students.

By welcoming 55% of “ERCS” (Students Meeting Social Criteria), MBS intends to multiply this type of measures to ensure that the financial barrier is not an obstacle to access to Grandes Ecoles. In the face of the health crisis which weakens students on the economic level, the support of companies is more necessary than ever. It is still possible to support MBS and its actions for social openness by paying the apprenticeship tax until May 31st.
