MBS is back to school in an eco-responsible way with a Sustainable Mobility Plan
Based on the results of its carbon footprint, MBS was able to identify priority actions to reduce its environmental impact while waiting for the new carbon-negative campus in 2024. For the start of the 2021 school year, the school has developed concrete actions for sustainable mobility so that all students and employees can have the opportunity to become players in this evolving climate strategy.
CONCRETE MEASURES FOR SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY AT MBS
Today, 68% of emissions are due to the occasional and daily travel of employees and students. Five actions have therefore been implemented to reduce this impact. As of September 14, MBS will join the “Tous covoitureurs” program with KLAXIT. “This application will encourage students and employees to carpool through a system of remuneration for drivers and free rides for passengers up to 40 km,” adds Kathrin Jacob, project manager.
Other facilities for soft mobility: new parking lots for bicycles and scooters, as well as charging stations for electric vehicles have appeared on the campus.
For employees, other measures have been added to encourage the use of an alternative to the private car, such as the payment of 60% of public transport passes, or the loan of electric bicycles to try out on a home-campus trip.
THE ECONOMIC, ECOLOGICAL AND SOCIAL TRANSITION AT THE HEART OF STUDENT TEAM BUILDING
In line with its 2020-2025 strategic plan, MBS is continuing to strengthen learning related to the societal and environmental transition, notably through its research and Sustainability Lab.
For students entering the school directly in the second year, a specific team building around the Climate Fresque allowed newcomers to get to know each other while being made aware of climate issues as soon as they arrived.
First-year students will also be trained in this tool during the ODD Challenge, an educational event that offers students the opportunity to present their solutions to sustainable development issues in front of a jury of transition experts.

For the 2nd consecutive year, MBS is co-organizing with the Open Diplomacy Institute on October 6th the Sustainable Development Meetings on the theme “Founding inclusive society(s)”, to allow each and everyone to build an informed opinion on the issues of sustainable development.
During the next few weeks, you will be able to discover on the RDD website the different speakers with, in particular, for the day co-organized by MBS: the former Minister Christiane Taubira, the Journalist and Essayist Caroline Fourest, the Director General of the French Red Cross Jean-Christophe Combe, or the two Teachers-Researchers experts of the subject at MBS Maryline Meyer & Magalie Marais.
