MBS is 2nd in the ranking of French Business Schools that are the most committed to the ecological and societal transition

MBS is 2nd in the ranking of French Business Schools that are the most committed to the ecological and societal transition

On Thursday, November 3rd, Echos START and ChangeNOW published the new edition of the “ranking of schools and universities committed to changing the world”, a reference that highlights the efforts made by higher education institutions in terms of education and involvement in the ecological and societal transition.

For the second year in a row, MBS is ranked 2nd among the Grandes Ecoles of Management, a recognition at the highest national level of its mission, its research and the quality of its teaching for the transition.

The 6 key topics of this ranking

To achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals set by the UN, companies must reinvent themselves by recruiting innovative managers who are experts in CSR. For the first time in 2021, Les Echos Start and Change Now have created the ranking of schools and universities that change the world, in order to contribute to this transformation by helping to identify the programmes that are best adapted to the development of the skills of students and future managers.

The methodology is based on six dimensions: density of impact within the programme, diversity & equal opportunities, academic excellence & employability, strategy & publication of objectives, involvement of student associations, and access to the labour market in impact.

CSR as a common thread in teaching, research and community life

From awareness to action, MBS integrates an environmental and societal dimension throughout its curriculum and in each of its courses. Each year, 600 students from the Bachelor and Grande Ecole programmes are trained in the Fresque du Climat and have the opportunity to put into practice the skills acquired during the ODD Challenge, by imagining solutions to meet the challenges of sustainable development in Occitanie.

On the entrepreneurship side, the “International Entrepreneurship” seminar immerses students in the daily life of responsible entrepreneurs by imagining an international startup concept committed to the transition. Students enrolled in the “Management of ecological and solidarity-based transformation projects” specialisation then have the opportunity to go further in this reflection by taking part in a low-tech trip to the heart of the eco-cities.

On the research side, the qualitative work of MBS’s research professors has been given a high profile in the ranking, with 25% of the publications involved in CSR issues.

Students can also bring their project for the transition to the campus level, by joining for example one of the three student associations involved in this theme with Care About Us, Gaia or Mon Bureau Solidaire.

Bruno Ducasse: “MBS is establishing its position as a key player in the ecological and societal transition”

The committed and inclusive identity of MBS is reflected in several new initiatives this year. First of all, the creation of the IMPACTS (Inclusive Management, Prosperity And Collective Transformations for Sustainability) centre of excellence, which steers the entire MBS action plan for the transition in the framework of research, chairs, teaching, programmes, certifications, partnerships and relations with committed companies.

Another new feature was the start of the first cohort of students in the Act for Change excellence programme, dedicated to training future ambassadors for the ecological and societal transition.

As for the school’s Diversity, Inclusion and Equal Opportunities policy, the numerous mechanisms for openness, financial aid and adaptation of the course are diversifying with the creation of a Scholarship dedicated to people with disabilities and the signing of the LGBT+ charter for Higher Education with the association Autre Cercle.

” It is through the mobilisation of students, teachers and staff that the school continues its historical commitment and establishes its position in the ecosystem of Business Schools as a key player in the ecological and societal transition ” concludes Bruno Ducasse.
