Short Bio

Dr. Claire Papaix is an economist specialized in urban mobility and wellbeing, and joined Montpellier Business School in November 2020, within the Entrepreneurship, Strategy, Technology, Innovation and Management Department. She will be in chage of leading the CSR and Sustainable Management PGE module, teaching in the BIBA Managing Strategy and Literature Review Methodology modules. Working at the University of Greenwich in London for the past 5 years, she was programme leader and Senior Lecturer in Transport and Business Logistics, and went on a short research sabbatical to acquire new knowledge in geo-spatial analysis and deepen my expertise in wellbeing appraisal in urban mobility, in collaboration with English and French Universities. She also has an experience in small business creation and events management having co-founded the start up The Good Fit Project, aiming at gathering urban communities through sport and wellness activities. Her research interests include sustainable urban mobility, sustainable policy implementation, wellbeing appraisal, community engagement, citizen science, smart cities, public health, entrepreneurship, innovation, urban wellness and tourism management.

Previously, I obtained a PhD in Economics at The French Institute of Sciences and Technologies for Transport, Development and Networks (IFSTTAR) on the topic: ‘implementation of low‐carbon mobility policy in urban areas’. For this, I focused on the environmental effectiveness, equity outcomes and acceptability challenges of various policy scenarios for travellers,and used a triangulation of quantitative research methods to test my hypotheses.
Next to my PhD researches, I was actively involved in the European research project on Transport Equity Analysis (TEA COST Action TU1209) and worked for this on the refinement of accessibility measures to appraise equity in transport policy. Through this network, I will chair a workshop on Measuring attitudes and perceptions for behavioral change at the 12th International Conference on Transport Survey Methods next Spring in Lisbon (Portugal). I have also been working on applied research projects in collaboration with transport industrials at the Climate Economics Chair (CEC) in Paris. I sustained since active links with colleagues now in the University of Franche-Comte on research projects about smart grids and electricity usage in transportation.
