The Teaching Departments

Montpellier Business School has 4 teaching and research departments organised by :

Marketing, Sales and Communication

The Marketing, Sales and Communication department aims to spread knowledge on these management disciplines to various groups of learners: students, professionals, VAE (French equivalent to APEL) candidates, companies, etc. The department actively promotes the development of knowledge in these fields through academic research and consulting activities with companies, which constitute the basis of its teaching courses.

Department overview

The department consists of professors-researchers and research assistants, with very diverse yet complementary profiles with key skills to achieve three crucial objectives:

  • Sharing knowledge, advising, and monitoring learners through quality teaching (in French and English) which takes into account the latest academic and managerial advances in marketing, sales and communication.
  • Carrying out extensive and diversified research activities with a focus on academic excellence and managerial relevance. Research reports are published in internationally renowned scientific journals as well as in educational and professional publications.
  • Maintaining ongoing relations with companies through consulting activities, studies, and training. Establishing close ties with companies helps better prepare learners for their future responsibilities through theory and practice.

The department’s courses cover all aspects of marketing, sales and communication, from the fundamentals of doing business to strategic decision-making. They embody the Group’s values, which are reflected in all modules and addressed more specifically through dedicated courses and specialisations.

The department focuses on managerial innovation to adapt to the ever-changing marketing, sales and communication professions, both in France and internationally. Its actions are part of a sustainable approach to responsibility and global performance, openness, and diversity. The students are strongly made aware of the social responsibility that they bear as future senior executives or managers. The various educational activities promote their creativity, their personal and collective expression as well as their critical thinking. Some projects, such as the Mark’Up project in M1, constitute real marketing challenges during which our students work in groups to solve problems raised by professionals who serve as the jury to select the best ideas.

The department’s research activities are rewarded by several academic prizes

Thesis awards, best papers at international conferences and articles published in leading academic journals such as Marketing Research and Applications, International Management, International Marketing Review, Journal of Marketing Communications, Food Quality and Preference, Journal of Product Innovation Management, etc. Some of the educational and professional books are best-sellers in their category which attests to their relevance, timeliness and quality..
