Short Bio

Lionel Rivière is a professor of geopolitics and international relations. He joined Montpellier Business School in September 2002 as an assistant professor before being promoted to associate professor in September 2006. He holds a double degree in International Strategy Analyst (RNCP level VII) and a Master’s degree in Public Administration as well as an advanced degree in Military History.In March 2015, he has been nominated by the French Prime Minister (publication in the Journal Officiel, 19/3/2015) as official auditor for the National Institute for Higher Education in Defense (Institut des Hautes Etudes de Défense Nationale). Between 2008 and 2013, he was Director of the Montpellier Business School Bachelor Program before taking over the supervision of the Centre of Pedagogical Excellence (CEP) from September 2015. He is also a Reserve Officer in the Foreign Legion Heritage and Outreach Division (DRP) as a High Level History Expert. He was raised to the dignity of a knight in the Order of Academic Palms by the Minister of National Education (March 2011) and has been awarded national defence medals (silver level) and volunteer reservists of defence and homeland security (gold level), 2021 by decision of the Minister of Armed Forces.
