Professor Manthos Delis is a Research Professor (Chair) of Financial Economics at Montpellier Business School. He completed his PhD in 2007 and in 2012 (at age 34) he was appointed a Chaired Professorship in the University of Surrey. He previously held posts at the University of Ioannina (Lecturer) and Cass Business School (Senior Lecturer). His current research interests cover the role of finance (especially bank credit) in the real economy (firm borrowing and investments, household finance, income inequality, etc.). More than 40 of his papers are published in top-tier journals, with 7 publications in FT-listed journals (Journal of Financial Economics, Management Science, Operations Research, Review of Finance) and many others in top-field journals (Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Development Economics, Journal of Money, Credit and Banking, etc.). Based on the quality of his research, he has been a Professor since the age of 33, and has received many honors and awards. His work has been cited more than 6,000 times. IDEAS ranks his research in the top 1% in the world (last 10 years). On March 2019, he was externally nominated for the USERN Prize 2019 based on his academic performance in the recent two years. His students ranked his in-class performance with an average mark of 4.8/5 in the last 5 years.
