Imminent departure: Caroline, a Bachelor’s student, is about to begin her one year internship in the retail sector in... Hong Kong!

After successfully obtaining her Economics and Social Science baccalauréat in 2015, Caroline joined the Bachelor’s programme at MBS after having discovered it during a student fair in Montpellier and then at an Open Day. Two years later, she is about to take a flight to Hong Kong to do her one-year internship as a regulatory monitoring officer in the jewellery industry with APM Monaco! Personal experience.

As an MBS ambassador since her 1st year, Caroline is very familiar with her school! And what has pushed her to join the Bachelor’s programme course was the possibility of accumulating a lot of professional and international experience, especially thanks to the one-year spent in a company. "For my one year internship, I was looking all around the world because I wanted to take this opportunity to start an international career. I found my internship at the beginning of January and I leave on the 4th of June! It is best to do this as soon as possible so that your departure is stress free!"

But Caroline, who has never travelled outside of Europe, has first had to prepare mentally for this adventure: "I am delighted to be experiencing this new stage of my life! At first, I was a bit apprehensive because it is not next door, but it is a real chance to be able to go to Hong Kong because it is a bit like the New York of Asia, there is a lot diversity and cultural exchange. So, I'm very enthusiastic! I am especially looking forward to starting with APM Monaco.”
Working at the jeweller’s head office, Caroline will be reporting to the company's

Global Head of Retail and will assist them with monitoring, developing retail operations and opening new stores. "This is the experience I dreamed of! So, I left nothing to chance in organising my stay there. I learned a lot. My family helped me with all the healthcare issues, and then I took care of the "To-do list" point by point: finding a flatshare, bank account, telephone company, flight ticket... and of course, the visa for Hong Kong and for China because I will be travelling a lot for work! And, I have also organised local Mandarin classes. Finally, when you plan ahead, there is nothing very complicated to do. I was also able to receive help and advice from students from the World Co association, and students currently in Hong Kong. The MBS community is very supportive! Alexandre Buisson, in the final year of his Bachelor’s, even visited my future apartment for me! I would like to thank him very much.”

And when we talk to her about the future, Caroline is sure of herself: it will be abroad! "The Bachelor's degree is very well received abroad, especially when it is coupled with good professional experience. So, I have no doubt about finding a position when I leave school! The only question will be "where"! In any case, if you’re reading this and still hesitating about jumping in at the deep end, I assure you that if I can do it, so can you! You just have to dare to leave your bubble and finally, it is easier than you think! Daring is what will take you far. And do not hesitate to contact me if you need advice! I would be delighted to help you if I can."

The message has been passed on! Thanks to Caroline Tagneres for sharing her personal experience and we won’t miss out on any news during her year in Hong Kong!
