Social jury Africa, Montpellier BS and its Senegalese subsidiary particularly thank DP World and Air France for their support to promote equal opportunities


Montpellier Business School is known for its commitment, since over 10 years, in equal opportunities and its diversity policy that it promotes in France and abroad. Firmly convinced that the financial issue related to tuition fees should no longer be a problem, anywhere in the world, it has developed with the help of companies and its Foundation, a system to help academically deserving students and precarious financial situation.

In Africa, there is one part of the turnover of companies that is dedicated to finance student’s scholarships. "African companies are developing. They need managers increasingly experienced and highly trained, including management techniques, communication and business strategy. Associating training, support to young deserving people and economic development is an innovative triptych that makes sense and that is perfectly consistent with our school’s values," says Franck Dompietrini, General Director’s Advisor and responsible for developing the African market.

Thus in Dakar, in late April, the partner companies gathered to assess the Senegalese and Ivorian candidates who successfully passed the Master or Bachelor entry exam and so decided to give scholarships that not only cover the tuition fees but also the student’s living costs (an investment of 24,000 euros per academic year and student).

In the presence of a dozen leaders of MBS Dakar’s partner companies gathered around Jacqueline Sommovigo director of MBS Dakar and chaired by Didier Jourdan, Dean of Montpellier Business School, 15 Senegalese and Ivorian students have presented their situation. Six scholarships were awarded unanimously by the partners.

"I am always very moved to hear the humility of these students combined with their qualities and their hope of being offered a chance to study in France! It's such a reward for them, for their effort at school, having progressed to this level against all odds and to go even further. Companies are not wrong! A social jury in Dakar and Abidjan is very special," says Jacqueline Sommovigo, Director of MBS Dakar.

Montpellier Business School Dakar thank all of its partners in Africa: ACCOR Africa, ALLIANZ Africa, AXA, BNP/Paribas Group, ECOBANK, KPMG, NESTLE, Quotidiens FRATERNITE MATIN et LE SOLEIL, SONATEL/ORANGE, UPS and more specifically DP World Dakar who renewed his stock of 10 million francs (CFA) and Air France, which for the first time, decided to support MBS Dakar by offering the return flight ticket to the scholarship students.
